Indigenous Mayan Communities Food Security
Project
The country of Guatemala has one of the highest rates of chronic child malnutrition in the world, which
primarily affects the rural, indigenous Mayan population. This USAID project under the “Farmer-to-
Farmer” volunteer program alongside with Partners of the Americas, works with the Mayan Mam
indigenous peoples to provide dairy management and milk-added value training for marginalized farmers.
